What a week. Just after I posted the ‘I am thankful for everything’ post on the 7th, I get the call from Captain Taylor. It went something like this:
-May I speak to SPC Kim, please
–This is he
-SPC Kim, this is Captain Taylor, how are you doing
–I’m doing great, sir, how are you
-Well I’m doing probably better than you will
Well, it turns out I’m probably heading over to Wisconsin. Maybe Florida. I just don’t know yet. But they called on Friday, expected me to get ready by Monday and ship out. So far, I’ve attempted to or dropped the classes, told everyone I know that I’m leaving, and that
This nation… has been good to me. I have no words to express my gratitude. But if this is one way I can express it, and perhaps pay my long dues, then maybe it’s for the best of us.
But my heart longs to stay here, study, and carry on with my civilian life.
