This past week was exhausting. I had 4 midterms (homework assignments to go with that) over the course of 4 days. Thankfully, I feel like I did a decent job with it, but I didn’t get much sleep for a few days. I think I got an average of 3 hours of sleep. But it’s also a lot to do with procrastination. And I still had the time to play softball on Monday night. I thought we were gonna win (by default cuz the other team didn’t show up) but (un)fortunately, they did, and we lost this game by about 6 points (so now we’re 0-3, off to a start to make the diamondbacks of this year look good). But still, it was really fun just playing, going out there, pretending to be healthy and athletic. I had 2 hits and scored 1 run.
So after my midterms were over on Thursday night, of course I celebrated by… playing games! I had been savoring Rome-Total War for a couple weeks. So on Thursday and Friday I was really addicted. But now, I don’t know, it’s dying off. I’m about to uninstall it.
But that’s a pretty stupid way to celebrate. So I was happy there was a small group night on Friday. I couldn’t go to small group on Tuesday, so I didn’t know what we were going to do… I thought we were going camping. But it turns out we were just going to Jack London square in Oakland. And afterwards we just kicked back at Kevin’s place and played a few games, and Mafia of course. This is probably my best Mafia outing ever. I won everytime I was Mafia and won twice when I was civilian. I was angel once and I saved the right person! Never done that before either. Overall I think i was like 3 for 4, better than my 2 for 3 softball outing. So it was a long night but a fun night. I took off at like 5PM friday and got back at 2.
So of course I’m all tired, but there was this biking trip across the Golden Gate Bridge that I’ve always wanted to go to. But I couldn’t go at first because I thought we were gonna be camping till Saturday morning. But since we were done by 2, I just made up my mind then. Got up at 7 and met up with a dozen of us that Mike routed up somehow. We took the BART to San Francisco and those of us without bikes rented them at Pier 39. And we biked from there across the Golden Gate Bridge, down the hills. It was one of the more exciting things I’ve done in Berkeley so far, and I couldn’t stop thinking about how America is so great and how much I’ve wanted to have the freedom to do something like this when I was overseas. And I got to meet a bunch of cool people I wouldn’t have met otherwise. I actually got a free ice cream sundae at San Francisco and had a Corona (the real celebration for a tough week). Afterwards, we took the Ferry back to the pier and some of us stayed back, some of us went home.
I went home because I was just tired from stayin up late the night before, and I wanted to watch the Cal vs UCLA game. That and I wanted to reaarange my room, and do my laundry, too. I did all that on Saturday night. Cal won vs UCLA, great offense, but not as impressive defensive outing as any other game I’ve seen this year (all but Air Force I’ve seen on TV or in person). The reaaranging took a lot of time, but a lot less than I originally anticipated. I feel like I have a lot more room now to mess around with, or just space for whatever. Now this place actually looks like a decent place to stay.
