Probably the best response to this question that I’ve ever read.
Just out of curiosity, how should a man act and how should a women act? And why?
Examples of mentioned “female traits” are compassion, nurturing, gentleness, communication, cooperation, sympathy, emotion, intuition, modesty, virtue, family-orientation, beauty, and grace.
Examples of mentioned “male traits” are competitiveness, boldness, aggressiveness, ambition, logic, and strength.
The positive or negative nature of many of these traits is on a sliding scale; for example, boldness beyond moderation is recklessness, communication beyond moderation is loose-lipped garrulity or sheepish appeasement.
A more accurate view of these traits is that both women and men possess them ALL, but women and men by their very natures as two distinct but complementary groups possess those traits in different proportions. There are, of course, outliers to this general rule.
When most say a woman is not acting like a woman, they are saying she has not only unnaturally suppressed traditionally thought of “female traits” but has also disproportionately appropriated “male traits” beyond moderation or in their more negative connotations. See MMA champion Cristiane Cyborg Santos.
When most say a man is not acting like a man, they are saying he has not only unnaturally suppressed traditionally thought of “male traits” but has also disproportionately appropriated “female traits” beyond moderation or in their more negative connotations. See TV celebrity news gossip reporters.
