Today was the first day I really, really got to relax. As in, I got to do anything and everything I wanted to do today without having to be on the road. So I took my time, but having slept quite early last night, woke up early. I went to the bank to get some cash to pay for a couple more nights, and paid for 2 more nights here in Hostel Mar Y Mar. I then enjoyed some decent breakfast, and went out to go enjoy the beach. This is the first time I got ot use my collapsable seats. I had been considering throwing it away because I hadn’t used it till then.
This particular beach resembled much of San Juan del Sur of Nicaragua. A beach in a small bay with black sand. The Nicaragua one has a better surf, but I didn’t really care for that spot. It was way too touristy for me and I just wanted to get the hell out of there after a while.
So I got sun burned today because I refused to put on sunscreen. I wanted to get a decent tan, and I think I got what I asked for. It’s bad enough that I can’t tell where the mosquito bites are. But I don’t think it’s bad enough that my skin will start peeling.
I talked to Alvaro again today, who talked to his friend from customs. His friend says that he knows people in the Atlantic side of Costa Rica, but he can get a hold of one or two in the Pacific side, in Caldera. That’s all gonna have to happen on Monday, though, since everyone’s taking their days off on Sunday. I’m supposed to meet with him at 10 AM tomorrow at his place.
Alvaro’s Swiss, and he’s also done one of these road trips before. He started from Switzerland and drove through Greece, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and off to New Delhi, India. He lived there for 7 years. He speaks 7 different languages, English, French, Spanish, Italian, and Hindi among them. He has lost contact with his parents and any extended family. His mother being Italian and his father being French, they’ve all been seperated since World War II.
