Army Basic Training 6 – Ft. Jackson – 2001

1100 hours
Just after I wrote that, we got off. Drill sergeants yelling, raining outside. We got inside soaked. I’m writing now from a hall full of maybe 300 desks, filling out some forms, so far we have been so busy, none of us got enough time to do anything but change clothes and move. No shaver, no time for hygiene, no time for long letters anymore. This morning we woke up at 4 like everyday to get ready for formation. Walked around the fort to the PT grass area. Did PT diagnostic testing. 38 pushups, 62 situps, in 2 minutes each. I was one of the better people, believe me I was surprised. But that’s still not good enough if I want 100 points. Sure I can pass with that, but I need 71 push-ups and 87 some situps for 100 each. But I flunked my run, 2 miles in 17:36. I got so freakin tired. Then a quick 5 minute shower. Now I’m in the hall writing when I’m not really supposed to, filling out some forms, people are busy asking the specialists about some military stuff. I’m gonna end it here. Wish me luck, mail me whenever possible, get me any pictures you can spare, and tell me how everyone’s doing. First day in training, and I’m already tired and sweaty as hell. Kim from Ft. Jackson. Out.
