Army Basic Training 34 – Ft. Jackson – 2001

The 16th of August was alright.  It was mad boring, though.  Martinez said ‘Rangers, hooah’ to me and left me behind to finish basic training.  We did buddy movements today, same as the other days, except we were using live rounds.  The drill sergeants were yelling at us like never before.  For the most part, it was a boring day.  One of the drill sergeants came up with the idea to let any of us imitate any of them.  McCall stepped up and humiliated all the drill sergeants there.  Back to the d-fac, where we eat chow.  Firefighters and cops came by cuz they burned chicken or something in the chow place.  I was mad hungry and pissed cuz I thought I would never get to eat.  Today, we’re having phase testing.  And since there are so many of us and so few of them with so many things to be tested on, we have some time to sit and relax.  we now have one more thing to do, claymore mine.  We were tested on AT4, army values, compass, map distance, shock prevention, challenge persons, reporting intelligence, decontaminating our skin, first aid to shocking casualty, using masks, and AT4 misfire procedure.
