The Drive 52 – Peru, South America – 2007

It’s already the 27th. I’m a day behind now.

Not much happened today. Which is the most important thing that could happen to me right now. I drove 350 miles from Cuzco to Arequipa. The drive was fairly pleasant, although I suppose the roads could have been in a better condition. That and driving at 14000 feet for a couple hours really does a lot in messing with my nerves. But now I’m back down around 7500 feet, and I’m really glad I got here. All the noises seem to be much more normal. The temperature gauge is back to normal. The car didn’t stall at all and climbed and descended with relative ease. The only problem is with the right front suspension bushing making quite a ruckus while going up a bump. I will try and rotate my tires sometime and have them look at my suspension if possible and see if it’s good to go or cracking.

You know what REALLY pisses me off? Jackasses doing marijuana during their international travels. Did you really come flying some 10000 miles just to smoke some joint and fly back? What’s the whole point, to tell all your friends about all the continents you’ve been to and which country has the best pot? Before this trip started, I held all backpackers in high regard until I actually had to deal with them. This isn’t the first time the smoke is seeping into my room.
