I have a student named Blamah Kotay.  Unfortunately, he doesn’t either know the right from wrong or doesn’t care.  About 4 weeks ago he was one of many students who was caught stealing Starbursts from my candy bucket.  I took him outside to talk to him about it, because I thought more highly of him.  I told him that it’s not ok to steal, and that he will remember this conversation because I remember conversations like that with my teachers more than what they taught me in class.  I thought I did my job, but he decided to steal again when I went outside to talk to another student.  I bring Blamah outside again and he apologizes, again.  Emerald also stole from me, and so I said, “You would steal from me, Emerald?”  I wanted to say, “Y tu, Brutus?”  But I don’t think anyone would have gotten the reference that I felt betrayed.

So on March 30, when Blamah decided to take a picture of one of my students’ progress report lying on my table when he was lounging around my classroom during tutoring, I had to kick him out.  Perhaps one day he’ll get it.  Maybe he won’t.  I now realize that he is one of those smooth talking people whose words mean nothing and his actions speak so much louder than words.  He appears to be popular with the ladies, but only because he carries himself well and with confidence.  But when it came down to ethical issues, their actions always collided with mine.  I knew people like him, and didn’t like them at all.

Some things you just can never prepare for.  Today, Danizjah got up to blow her nose.  I wasn’t watching, but Jermaine then immediately says, “you a pervert.”  Of course he’s got everyone’s attention because of that.  Then he accuses Darrell (who has an IQ of 80 apparently, as was revealed to me during the IEP meeting with him and his mom a couple weeks ago), of taking a picture of Danizjah’s butt.  Darrell denies it and says, “I didn’t take a picture.  I took a video.”  Then the discussion goes to about how he gets so much “pu__y.”  How could I have prevented that?  I could not possibly have.  The only thing you can do is just react because those things you can never completely prevent.
