UC Berkeley 125 – Berkeley, California – 2002

Wake up at 6. I have no idea what the temperature was, but I’m sure it was in the 35.  That and I was biking downhill to get to my drill unit.  It was so freaken freezing, my hands stopped working after a while, so I had to make sure I took the roads where I didn’t have to brake.  We played volleyball for PT till 9 AM.  That wasn’t too much fun to begin with, cuz my hands were still frozen.  But later on, I made some key plays that I think the NCOs and the Captains and the CWO 1s liked.  So that was really cool.  Other than that, Captain Powell didn’t have anything for me, so I did MARKS filing for Captain Taylor, and then we went to go eat.  It was a really fun experience, being a Specialist (CPT Taylor also made sure I got some ranks to pin on after seeing I still had my PFC rank cuz I didn’t have a chance to go to the PX) with a Master Sergeant, a CWO 4 and a Captain in the car.  They talk about a lot more different things than I first imagined.  So that was a real eye opener, and gave me a bit of insight into what the army is all about.  Came back to the unit, worked on processing myself in, and also talked to SSG Alderson about getting my EPSQ done for Security Clearance.  Then, I got dismissed early!  2:30 PM, and I was ready go to home.  I tried to Bart my way back, and I did, but it wasn’t worth it.  I have to bike in the opposite direction for 2 miles, wait for the Bart to come by, pay the fees, go up and down the stairs with my bike, and then bike back another 2 miles.  I would so much rather just bike all the way back, it’s not that bad anymore anyway.
