0937 hours
It’s 30 minuets past bedtime, the drill sergeant caught us sleeping on our covers instead of under it. We sleep over cuz of 2 main reasons tho, mostly cuz it’s a pain to make the bed, and also because it’s so hot we sweat under that. Yesterday was a Sunday. Most of us went to church, there were some that didn’t. Since the service times are different for every religion, Sundays will probably remain like yesterday, pretty laid back. We’re gonna get smoked in the morning tomorrow for sure though, for sleeping over the covers. Anyway, on Sunday I went to church… so did about 500 others. They say by the 9th, or the last week, barely anyone goes, cuz you can use that hour or 2 to clean up and do your own thing. Most of us cried, I did, mostly cuz I became a part atheist in the last 2 months and found what a fool I was. I cried so much my BDUs were soaking wet. Sunday was laid back like I said, the place is hot as usual, but by 5 or 6PM, it cools down a bit, but it sure doesn’t rain anymore. Today was the worst. 0500 hours woke up, 2 mile platoon run divided into A, B, C, D groups, A being the fastest. I was in A group, and I hate running too. We ran those 2 miles in less than 14 minutes. Still it was a bit slow paced, I would have liked pacing faster in some parts, but other parts we pushed, and we pushed hard, my legs started hurting. There was a cross country female runner in front of me. I couldn’t let myself down and kept running regardless of pain. This guy has torn ligament in his knee, but he ran that with no problem, he runs 2 miles @ his school in 10:34, 3 in about 16 minutes. After that, we learned about army values. There are 7, and they concentrate on one each week. Respect, loyalty, duty, honor, selfless service, integrity, personal courage. Respect was this week. Then chow. Our platoon gets worked a lot harder than any other platoon, our female drill sergeant wants us to march in graduation. Oh about that. Only one platoon gets to march in graduation after a lot of platoons compete. We marched for 3 hours, 3 10 minute breaks in the sun. 110 degrees with everything (normal temp, humidity, BDUs) today, and we were marching. But because our platoon gets pushed more, we’re the best one out there, and everyone knows it. My voice has been gone and will remain sour from sounding off after every command, screaming every time. Sure it’s been tough, marching till my feet goes numb, eating in 5 minutes, pushups often during the day for however long they can hold us up for, usually over 5 minutes, and doing cleanup, picking up and doing things in limited time. Lots of people are writing, like me, in the dark, awaken even if we’re not supposed to. I’ve never sweated so much, but I’m in the best shape of my life. Another tough day tomorrow, but I’m starting to have fun, our entire platoon took a while but we’re united. Gotta go now, I might get caught writing soon.
