UC Berkeley 12 – Berkeley, California – 2002

Saturday. Art class, early in the morning (9:30AM). The instructor, Mark Wilson, didn’t end up showing up till about 9:45, mostly because he has knee problems and recently got a surgery on it. He’s a really nice guy, though, filled with charisma, kind of like Mr. Bohannon, except he talks a little more. One of those fuzzy looking grandpas that really know how to conversate. He knows how to teach, too, and loves to teach. I learned so much from him in an hour, I am very excited in taking the art class that I thought I would take just for requirements. He made us pay for a book he himself wrote through a private publisher, it’s out of print now, but they have really interesting facts about different Berkeley buildings and architecture throughout Oakland. Came back home, went bike riding to Vista through the Berkeley route that I’ve been investigating during my daily walks. Instead of the 30-35 minute walks, the bike took 5-10 minutes. May save me a lot of time in the future. Bought a book called Art Forms, which is also interesting and makes me look at things differently. Pretty good so far. This day also marks 1 week since I left, and it feels like it’s been much, much longer. 20 more weeks like this… Can’t wait for Christmas that feels so, so far away
